Ledford, James "Jack"
James “Jack” Ledford, 91, of Connersville, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2024 at Reid Health, Richmond. One of three children of Add and Alice Duff Ledford, Jack was born in Owsley County, Kentucky on June 5, 1932 and moved to the Franklin County, Indiana area as a child with his family. He graduated from Brookville High School with the class of 1950. On August 12, 1953, Jack married the former JoAnn Hunter of Metamora at the home of her parents. Jack and JoAnn made Connersville their home in 1965. Mrs. Ledford passed away on October 12, 2023. Jack was employed at Frank Otto’s Ford Tractor Dealership in Brookville and for 36 years was employed at Rex manufacturing, and Philco/Ford, retiring in 1987. Jack, alongside his devoted wife JoAnn, were charter members of Connersville Baptist Temple. As the steadfast Treasurer, he meticulously tended to the congregation’s financial well-being, ensuring that the church’s mission flourished. Recently, Jack found solace in the First Baptist Church of Connersville where he discovered fresh purpose. Jack’s impact extended far and wide. His tenure as a 4-H leader spanned countless seasons, nurturing young minds and fostering a love for showing livestock. He served on many election boards, a duty he carried with honor. Yet, it was on his modest hobby farm that Jack truly thrived. The earth yielded to his touch, and he reveled in tilling the soil, raising livestock, and coaxing life from seed to harvest. His garden, a symphony of colors and flavors, mirrored the abundance of his heart. Along with cultivating his modest farm, Jack enjoyed being a “professional piddler” and amateur inventor. With a twinkle in his eye, he tinkered, explored, and breathed life into forgotten treasures. And when the sun dipped below the horizon, he sought refuge in the pages of Louis L'Amour’s novels, savoring tales of the West and frontier life. Amidst all his pursuits, family remained his compass. Jack enjoyed spending time in laughter and sharing stories with his family. Survivors include three children, Jane Oakley of Connersville, Becky (Doug) Blakley of Greenwood, and John Ledford of Los Angeles, California; four grandchildren, Alison (Eric) Gates of Franklin County, Indiana, Kate Reynolds of Greensboro, North Carolina, Tyler (Whitney) Blakley and Claire (Kyle) Winters, all of Indianapolis; five great-grandchildren, Noah Gates, Cal and Mac Blakley, Brooks and Gus Winters; a sister, Helen Barrett of Connersville; a half-brother, Harold Wilson of Peppertown, Indiana; a half-sister, Iona Wilson of Batesville; several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife of 70 years, JoAnn Ledford, Jack was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Mike Ledford; a sister, Alva Casteel; half-sister, Karen; and a son-in-law, Wilbur “Sonny” Oakley. A private burial will be conducted in Dale Cemetery with Reverend Mal Gibson officiating. Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. Ledford, Mitchell Charles
Mitchell Charles Ledford born August 4, 1961 to parents Charlie and Ruby Combs (daughter of Lewis and Jane Thompson Combs) Ledford, passed away suddenly Saturday night (October 19) at Kettering Hospital after having been there a week. Sunday, October 13, he underwent an immediate 12 hour surgery to repair an acute aortic dissection. He progressed amazingly after surgery, but Saturday night his aortic aneurysm re-dissected suddenly and he passed away immediately. Mitchell was preceded in death by parents, Charlie and Ruby Ledford, his first wife Penny Ledford, his nephew, SGT James C. Robinson, and countless others. Mitchell is survived by his wife, Lisa, twins Hanna and Cooper (17), daughter Sophie (6), brother, Kenny, nieces Katie Ledford, Amber (Corey) Henderson, Kate Robinson, nephew Johnny Robinson, brothers-in-law Chris (Kim) Robinson, Derrick (Amy) Brooks, fathers and mothers-in-law James Robinson and Dot Robinson, Charles Brooks and Cathi Brooks, and so many others. He was employed with AK Steel in Middletown for nearly 12 years and worked in the Green Coil. Prior to that, he had numerous occupations-including a birthday party clown. Mitch was very much a "Soulman" and loved music, especially his Lee Oscar harmonica, though he was thinking of taking up the ukelele. He valued nothing over his family and would do anything to ensure that they were taken care of. He was the best daddy ever, and a truly devoted and loving husband. He did not care if you were related by blood, by marriage, or by choice, family is family. He was a strong man and endured far too many heartbreaks with courage, getting his loved ones through them with his humor. He was a fighter and would do anything asked of him and would do anything to help others. He loved B-dubs and Roosters, along with his Bud Lite and Diet Coke. He also enjoyed working on his DeLorean, watching the Reds with his son, listening to the Scotty Bratcher Band with his daughter, Hanna, and playing at the park with his daughter Sophie, but most of all, enjoyed sharing his life with his wife Lisa-who has been a Godsend to him, his twins, and the family. Though his life was far to short, he lived a very full life, and, we're sure, would thank everyone for being part of it and making it amazing. Funeral services are 2:00 pm Thursday October 24, 2013 at Anderson Funeral Homes 40 North Main Street Springboro, Ohio with Kenny Wagner officiating. Burial will be in Springboro Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the funeral home. www.anderson-fh.com 10/22/13.
